(Notice: All layers means drop stitch material only.)
-2.1. Single layer: Most often using drop stitch material, for example Amazon paddle boards or other cheap paddle boards. Advantage is price cheap, but stiffness normal. Normally using on low-level paddle boards series.
-2.2. Double layers: Adhesive two sheets of 7mm PVC on top and bottom of single layer drop stitch material. More glue, more weight, more stiffness, more cost, nowadays seldom making, market share instead by MSL Fusion layer.
-2.3. MSL Fusion layer: You can understand as more thickness single layer, most often using drop stitch material on brand OEM production. Because it is more environmental, stiffness similar as double layers, and light weight than double layers.
-2.4. Woven layer: New arrival material in 2022, the main feature is: It adopt new knit technology on drop stitch line, similar like "X", so we also call it "X"-Woven;
Material supplier said X-woven layer lighter weight 10% than single layer but stiffness more than MSl fusion layer, accordingly, X-woven material price expensive than MSL a lot, but the main market still occupied by MSL fusion layer, only several high-end brands adopt this new material on their SUP boards
The difference bebetween single layer and MSL layer:
-1. Same sup, MSL layer board weight heavier around 2.5-3KG than single alyer.
-2. MSL layer has better intensity and stiffness than single layer, especially when heavey people stand in board center, MSl layer do not easy bending as a banana.
-3. More durable using and more resistant to scratch by stone or sand.
Most sup board sold on Amazon is single layer made. Most brand SUP price in 400-600USD is MSL layer made.
